On Thursday, January 28, 2016, WFYI was recognized at the Indianapolis Public Schools Board Meeting by Harshman Magnet Middle School, for it's dedication and service to the district and students. WFYI was honored to be nominated by Harshman Magnet Middle School.

Sam Odle remarked on behalf of the Board and on behalf of Harshman,

“We will start by recognizing WFYI for its outstanding support for Indianapolis Public Schools. WFYI is a valued partner of IPS. Even broadcasting special events, such as our monthly action session meetings like this one. Today we recognize this station for its commitment to Harshman Magnet Middle School, and its unyielding support for teachers, staff, and students. The station support is vast and varying. To name a few: WFYI’s employees have held a belt drive to benefit students, they baked hundreds of cookies for families who attended Harshman’s winter concert, and they’ve even fulfilled grants for teacher classrooms.  WFYI’s impact will be felt at Harshman and throughout the district well into the future. It is our pleasure to present CEO Lloyd Wright a certificate of recognition for WFYI’s outstanding effort supporting Harshman.”

WFYI is honored to recieve this recognition, and looks forward to discovering ways to continue supporting Harshman Magnet Middle School and Indianapolis Public Schools in the future through our American Graduate initiative.
